Professor Emerita of the University of Rhode Island, taught textile conservation, historic textiles, history of western dress, and textile science courses and was the director of the Historic Textile and Clothing Collection and Gallery for almost thirty years.
When she retired in 2017, she opened the Ordoñez Textile Conservation Service and consults with and conserves objects from museums, historical societies, dealers, and individual clients. Her most recent publication is Conservation Concerns in Fashion Collections: Caring for Problematic Twentieth-Century Textiles, Apparel, and Accessories (2022, Kent State Press).
